Review of "No Laughing Allowed" Part 2

The long awaited review:

As I previously mentioned in part 1 of this review, I received a free Kindle version of the book,
No Laughing Allowe (life Well Blogged) by authors Abbey Fatica and Monica Mylet.

I have to say that to not laugh through the reading of this book, you simply just had to be from another planet. What Abbey Fatica and Monica Mylet actually did was gather together some of the most hilarious mom bloggers out there and stuffed them chapter by chapter in a book.

The contents within the pages contained thoughts from no less than 34 bloggers. These ladies discussed their lives of mommy-hood, school drop-offs, womanly stuff, sex or lack there of and the gift of wine with such flair and hilarity. I cannot begin to tell you how I almost choked a couple of times on my large glass of Pepsi with the familiarity of it all.

As a Mom and now, young Grandma, I saw myself in some of these tales.

For example like the one where trying to get in a  quickie while the kids are watching TV. (Just for the record, to my kids: don't roll your eyes at me. You will do it too one day now that you have your own kids.)

I could truly relate to the blogger who felt somewhat defeated because she could not fit in to her little black dress anymore. She tells of getting stuck. Oh my gosh, tears of laughter or is it sadness.

Then of course the blogger who listed the things she had planned to do as the "best mommy in the world". You know, like having dinner at the table, EVERY night. Yeah, that happens. (uh hmm...the kids rolling their eyes at me again)

If you are a Mom, Grand-Mom, wish you were a Mom, or even a Husband (yes, you are included in here too), then you want to read this book! It is in your face truthful and so much fun.

Raise your glass of wine because this book gets:

Review of "No Laughing Allowed" Part 1

Before I get into this this review, I have to confess an admission of an omission.
These ladies that wrote this book I am about to tell you about sent me a Kindle version a few months ago of their book.

I read their book as soon as I received it. I like to do this because that way I am ready to write about them right away as the books come up in my scheduled ques. Here is where I messed up. I did not write the review! I did not schedule it...nothing! What happened here, I am not sure.

I do wish to apologize to you ladies as I have never done that before. As it turns out, I had to read it again because...well...it had been too long since I read it last. sigh...Forgive me will you?

You my dear readers are about to find out though why even after a second read, due to my error. it was worth it.

Now, go on to part 2 of this review.

Review of : "Tadeo Turtle" by Janis Cox

Did you ever have a turtle when you were growing up. I had several because we used to catch them off the side of the road and bring them home.

I discovered author and illustrator Janis Cox and her turtle story called Tadeo Turtle and had to read it.
This is a very short children's story that Janis Cox has written in rhyme. Add her colorful water painted illustrations and it adds up to a cute book.

Tadeo, pronounced TAHD-ay-OH, is a turtle with a colorful shell who is happy with himself until he meets other animals. He discovers things he likes about the other animals that he cannot do.

In a dream, he manages to shed his shell so that he can run free but discovers life without his shell is not all it is cracked up to be. He learns that he was given his shell for a reason and learns to be happy with himself once again.
-----------

What I really liked about this book was that it shows children that no matter what they look like that they are here are this Earth and have a purpose in life. The books helps kids to understand they are perfectly made and to be happy with who they are.

Janis Cox's watercolor paintings are bright and cheerful. She basis her book off of Christian principles and any homeschooling family or Christian family would certainly love this book.

A bonus to this book is Janis Cox includes a curriculum for the young readers which includes art, music, physical education, language study and scripture study.

Review of "The Night Horses" by Anaka Jones

I have always thought horses to be beautiful animals and love to take photos of them when I get a chance.
So, it was great fun when I received a copy of the children's book, The Night Horses by Anaka Jones.

The story starts out on a typical farm-like setting with the horses eating, running on the land, having new babies and getting showers. Some of the horses are even named.  This seems all so commonplace for a farm.

However, when the sun goes down and the people are done for the night, the horses night time activities are anything but typical! Let's just say...PARTY!

Truly if you want to know what happens at night pick up a copy and read this book. It will have you laughing.

Anaka Jones has an obvious love of horses as the illustrations in her book are bold, beautiful and sometimes, downright funny. As I said before, read the book and you will know what I mean.
---------------------

What makes this book even more fun is knowing that Anaka Jones is only 12 years old. That is right she is 12!

It goes to show me and hopefully you my readers, that no matter how old you are, if you truly love something then you can write about it and then read it too.

This book gets:

Anaka Jones, was born and raised in Ann Arbor Michigan.  She lives with her parents and has two older brothers, a frog, a lizard and two dogs.

Review of "If You Were Me and Lived in France"

Bonjour! That is hello in French.

In her newest series of If You Were Me and Lived In... Carole P. Roman now offers her second book called, If You Were Me and Lived In France. This new book sends children once again to another part of  the world to learn about other children and their culture.

As in the first book two children introduce the reader to places around France that one might see like the Eiffel Tower in Paris or maybe the Boulangerie. To find out what that is you must read the book.

Children learn a little of French with pronunciations in the back of the book and come to know that children in other parts of the world are sometimes just like them.

The illustrations are bold and colorful and only add to the great book this really is. This book is targeted for ages Pre-K through year 8.

I give this book:
Au revoir,
