#Review: The Menu by Steven Manchester #spiritual

Synopsis:  
A soul-awakening novel about love, faith and family. During Phinn Reed’s romantic quest, he discovers that even through great suffering and loss, he is never alone—not ever—and that we are all eternally connected.

My review:

God tells a baby yet to be born that his name will be Phinn and offers him a menu of the things that he can pick for his life. He picks the works and God sends him down to live his life. He will not remember being with God before birth but will live his life of design.

It has been said that if I like "The Shack", that I would like this book as well. The truth is, there is no comparison. "The Menu" has its own brilliance that cannot begin to be compared. I love both but on their own merits.

In this book, Steven Manchester, has taken quite the departure from his general writings to create a spiritual book that is spectacular. Phinn's life takes the human roads we all eventually have to take: birth, maturity into adulthood, and death. Peeks into marriage and another birth are included and play a sharp casting to his overall life and thoughts about God. The characters, both main, and minor characters are so well written that I felt as if they were friends. Through it all, God is steering Phinn into the life he wanted and let's the reader know that we "are never alone."

5 stars from the heavens.

Rachel was born in Dayton Ohio to a already large family of 5. She was the baby of the family, and literally about killed her Mother on her entrance into the world. Rachel was the 5th child to a school teacher and truck driver and soon found herself as a child of a single Mom of 5 who was forced to work 3 jobs to support her children. So Rachel is no stranger to seeing and living what it means to be a virtuous woman, as she watched her Mother do it, and continue to do it. Rachel is a devoted wife, Mother of 4 and Founder of Women at the Well Ministries. She is an author and currently writing her first in-depth Bible Study. She has been the keynote speaker at Mother’s of Israel conference, and several of her local church’s women’s events.

Her passion is studying scripture and then teaching those lessons to others, with the goal that they will then turn around and pay it forward. Her #each one #teach one philosophy is her mission. She is passionate about helping women by giving them tools to help them break strong holds so they can pursue whatever the Lord has for them. So, training them up for the call! That is what spurred her ministry.

My review:
This is an amazing spiritual insight from a man who for 40 years thought nothing of spirituality.
He has a personal encounter with God and his life is changed for ever. He transforms his life in living as the saint he is meant to be. 

He describes being a "saint" in five easily obtainable  and clear words, thus S.A.I.N.T. It is a journey he began and one that he shares with those he meets and those who read his book. You do not have to be extraordinary to follow just be open.

This book is timeless and worth the read for anyone who has lost their way, seeking a personal journey with God, needing to find the meaning of life, or just do not know what to do with life in general. 

Usually, this reader when reviewing a religious, spiritual, or self-help book, reads the book as a scholarly work. That is what I began this book with as well, but by the end, it meant more to me than I expected.
