#Review: One to Ten: Squirrel's Bad Day by Carole P. Roman

Synopsis:

Squirrel is rushing along a tree limb when she trips, losing all her acorns into the rushing water of the river below. Angry and frustrated, she doesn't know what to do. Her good friend, Rabbit, lends both a sympathetic ear as well as a solution. Rather than get angry, Rabbit tells her, rate the problem on a scale of one-to-ten. By identifying and realizing the true importance of the issue, the issue may not seem so overwhelming. Adorable forest creatures help the sad squirrel put everything into perspective so he does not to get stuck in a rut over something that may not be a big deal after all.

My review:

This cute little story book is by Carole P Roman, a well established children's book author. I have read many of her books but this one was a bit of a departure. That's not a bad thing!

When I first received this book I thought that it was a normal counting book, to teach counting. I was very wrong! What this really is about is feelings and how a child can handle feelings. The method used is simple and one we could use everyday.

The illustrations are top notch which I would figure for the author's books. They are colorful and bold and help tell the story beautifully.

But I don't want to tell you much more because of course that would ruin the book. This book is by far five stars, but if you don't believe me believe the awards that she received for it.
Disclosure: I received this book from the author. The views here are 100% my own and may differ from yours. -Michelle
