#Review: Dr. Dee Dynamo's Mission To Pluto by Oneeka Williams, MD/ Illustrated by Valerie Bouthyette #atozchallenge #kidsbooks

Summary:
I’m Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo,
Super Surgeon ON THE GO!
My hands were made to heal,
I cut, I sew, I tie with zeal;
No problem is too big or small,
Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo can tackle them all!

When Gordon the Gullible Globe sounds the alarm that a sad Pluto was downgraded to a dwarf planet, Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo is positive that she can use her surgical skills to help him. Join Dr. Dee Dee as she rallies her team and jets through the galaxy in Freeda, the flying ambulance, to perform surgery on Pluto. Will Pluto become a planet again?

My review:
Among the  author's goals by writing this book series was to introduce young girls in particular to the sciences and to give strong, positive role model for girls of all colors.  Girls need to see themselves as heroes too.

I love that Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo is not your normal everyday action hero. She is young girl who lives with her mom and dad but just happens to also be a surgeon with extraordinary powers. She sets out to fix planetary problems and her family is encouragement for her. This is also a plus for this book.

In this book Dr. Dee Dee sets out to fix Pluto which she accomplishes. With doing so, she teaches acceptance of oneself, something many girls today are also lacking.

The illustrations are bright and bold, they make this already terrific book just awesome.  4 stars.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for my open and honest opinion. The opinions expressed here are 100% my own.
