#Review: Murder On New Year's Eve by P. Creeden #novella #murdermysteries #cozyMysteries

My review:

I read this short novella (51 pages)  the day after New Year's Day 2020. I thought it to be appropriate since it was the day to celebrate. This story, the first in its series, is about a young woman who fosters a St. Bernard puppy in small town USA called Ridgeway.

Everything seems to be going fine, as she is with her crush, a police officer who works for her Dad the sheriff. It is New Year's Eve and hoping for that kiss.

A stranger arrives in town, a writer who turns her new year into chaos and murder. The murderer is obvious but trying to prove that he did it is another thing as he has the perfect alibi. To prove he did it is nothing short of a "Columbo" episode on TV and a fun way for the author to write the book. I truly loved this.

I thought she was brilliant and really outshined the supposed professionals. I am not sure why they seemed so dumb but it worked and worked well.

Overall, I loved the characters and looking forward to reading more from this author. I hope her characters do get developed more. The other thing I really liked was the description of the town. This is a place I would love to live if it was real!

Terrific first book and gets 4 stars from me.
