#Giveaway:$25 #Paypal from Away We Go Media

I am proud to work with Julie. It seems we met by osmosis but I love that we work so well together. I look forward to many years of working with awesome people and great clients!

Founded by Julie Gerber in 2011 Away We Go was created to help independent authors promote their books in a variety of  social media.

In 2013, Julie was joined by Naila Moon and the company saw a name change to Away We Go Media. In addition, clients from different avenues were added with the focus still being independent authors.

The company is small which allows for individual client attention. However, don't be fooled, its smallness is also one of its greatest strengths. Away We Go Media has some of the best clients and is proud to represent all of them.

"Away We Go Media is going places and we want you to go too."

#BookBlast: A Tale of the Supernatural, Night Sea Journey by Paula Cappa #thriller #paranormal

Pick up a copy today. A great Halloween read!
Purchase: $2.99 on Amazon

My review of this book from this talented author is forthcoming. Stay tuned!

A demon is a dark powerful visitor from another realm. True. A demon inside a dream is an imaginary construct that vanishes upon waking. True? Kip Livingston will tell you, false. Kip lives in Abasteron House and is a painter among the most talented of artists with an inspired imagination. She knows the truth because each night a winged creature with bone and muscle and greedy teeth plunged out invades her dreams. Even after she struggles to bolt awake, the dream remains a haunting dark master, breaking into her physical reality.

Kip turns to an exiled priest Raymond Kera who falls for her seductive charms. Raymond discovers that Kip's night sea journey is a descent into the land of ghosts somewhere beyond consciousness, and he is compelled to enter her world to save her. Or will Kip have to save herself from the night demon?
Reviews:

"Night Sea Journey is like reading a Dan Brown book with a wicked twist: it has real demons. Readers will be taken on a continual thrill ride. Excellent and impossible to put down. A fast-paced thriller where reality is blurred and faith is tested, guaranteeing to keep you enthralled until the very last word." ~San Francisco Book Review

"Cappa has that special gift of being able to make the supernatural natural, so polished is her prose and ability to string together ideas and development of same in a sustaining suspenseful manner. Even as she describes supernatural imagery her descriptive sense makes the quasi-visible visible. And that is a talent that will draw even those who are not keen on supernatural stories into her fold." ~Grady H.

"Paula Cappa has sailed into uncharted waters. Dreams, in many cultures are said to be omens or the visions of the souls desires. Dreams are the playground of the subconscious and susceptible to the influence of the supernatural. The subconscious is the true self Kip finds herself confronting desires, passions and fears that her waking self rarely if ever acknowledges. This is fine as long as the dreams stay dreamland, this story explores the "what if" of that dreamscape overlapping into day to day reality." ~ImARareBird

Disclosure: This book blast was arranged on behalf of Paula Cappa by Away We Go Media.

#Giveaway: $200 Amazon & Two Kindle Books by Carole P. Roman

Award winning author Carole P. Roman has recently published two new books for her
"Captain No Beard" series and for her "If You Were Me and Lived In..." series. These two series teach important life's lessons and help children to imagine places and things outside of their own space.

Captain No Beard and his crew of loyal pirates heave anchor for another adventure, this time in the icy waters of the Arctic. Captain No Beard's steering a course due north, sailing by the light of the North Star. Everyone on the crew wonders what the captain's up to, especially as he gets embarrassed when they ask. When the captain finally admits his plan, the crew discovers he plans to steal the aurora borealis, the beautiful northern lights that brighten the arctic sky. They're all shocked. They may be pirates, but even they know stealing is bad. Besides, how can anyone steal the lights from the sky? A charming, engaging tale about doing what's right.

In If You Were Me and Lived in…Greece , early learners get a taste of what their life would be like if they lived in Greece while being introduced to the birthplace of democracy. This book is the latest installment of the educational series about the cultures of the world that speaks to young children about the topics that interest them, such as the foods people eat, the names of boys and girls, and the activities that children their age living in a foreign land are likely to engage in. This exciting visit to Greece also introduces the important concept of democracy to children and highlights some of the other cultural contributions that Greece has made to Western civilization. Basic information is offered in a playful way that won’t overwhelm children.

#Review: Ten Thankful Turkeys by Angela Muse/Illustrated by Ewa Podles turkeys

Summary:
This colorful autumn tale follows ten turkeys as they get ready for an important celebration. This story teaches about gratitude. There are also fun turkey facts in the back of the book.

My review:
This book is absolutely adorable. I loved the bright eyes and cartoon -ish turkeys each with its own personality. The unexpected twist of a traditional family holiday is so fun. The overall message is clear.
The short list of facts in the back add to a child's natural curiosity and is a plus for the book.

Ms. Muse manages to make a simple counting book into a poetic masterpiece. I love it and it deserves. 5 stars!

#YA Book Spotlight and Interview: Adelita's Secret by Christopher Cloud

Interview with Award Winning Novelist Christopher Cloud

Today, we're shining the book spotlight on a young adult fantasy novel, Adelita’s Secret thanks to Rebecca's Writing Services. Christopher Cloud is an award winning novelist with his collection of young adult novels.  Cloud’s characters dispense small doses of historical facts, facts that become an integral part of the story. each of his four middle-grade/young adult novels plays out against a backdrop of history.

About Adelita’s Secret
Lost in a superficial world of materialism and social status—and ashamed of her Latino heritage—seventeen-year-old Adelita Noé is loved by two men, two men separated by a hundred years and vastly different stations in life. One man owns little more than the shirt on his back. The other, a poet at heart, is heir to a vast fortune. Their love for Adelita serves as the backdrop for the Latino girl’s quest to better understand herself and her Mexican roots.

Interview
Q: Do you have any tips for character creation?
There has been much written about the so-called "composite" character, borrowing bits and pieces from several characters to build one character. Personally, I find this premise irritating because you end up creating a character that readers will find unbelievable. That is not to say that your character’s personally/physical makeup/speech can’t be tweaked. Create a character that readers can wrap their minds around.

Q: Will you share some lessons readers can learn from the books characters?
I write middle-grade and young adult novels, and my characters dispense small doses of historical facts, facts that become an integral part of the story. Indeed, each of my four middle-grade/young adult novels plays out against a backdrop of history.

Q: Is there a theme or message in your work that you would like readers to connect to?
There are no messages per se in my novels, but I do try and tactfully educate the reader about the role history plays in all of our lives. In A Boy Called Duct Tape I educate the reader about the exploits of Jesse James and his gang of outlaws; in Voices of the Locusts I show my readers the ugly psychological scars left by World War II; in Adelita’s Secret, the importance of the Mexican Revolution forms the backdrop for my story; in The Ghosts of Petroglyph Canyon, the significance of preserving ancient rock drawings subtly weaves its way through the novel.

Q: If you could be any famous person/author for one day, who would you be and why?
I gave this question much thought. I’ve decided I’d like to be John Steinbeck when he was halfway through his first draft of The Grapes of Wrath. I’d love to learn his writing routine and who he relies on to read his copy, not for typos, but for content. For my money, The Grapes of Wrath is the most important book by an American author of the 20th century.

#Review: Keep the Light by Myron J. Stenzel

Summary:

When he finished, the waves washed away a message that he offered to the heavens and the ocean. "I believe in God and the sea, believe in me."

As the two walked up the beach towards the house, you could almost hear the waves say the words Jim gave the ocean to keep forever.

Chances. We all have taken them in our lives. For Jim Harris, he has taken the biggest chance of all. Giving up everything to chase a career. The one thing that he didn't count on was that the chance he was taking would lead him to what he needed most in life, the true love of a woman. Keep the Light is a story of family, friendship, true love, and taking that chance.

My review:

This is a sweet love story for the most part. It starts out with a man wanting and needing to make a change in his life. He moves to a whole different area of the U.S. to make this change. He meets for the first time his estranged uncle who offers him not only his home, the light house, but a new chance at life. There he gets the opportunity of a life time and finds the women of his dreams.

Essentially, that is the whole book.

The overall theme of working hard to achieve your dreams appeals to me. Even the idea of falling in love and that it will concur all is charming considering the world we live in today.

However, I wish I could say that I overwhelmingly liked this book. There were a few issues I had with it. First being at times the writing seemed rushed and often very repetitive. Some scenes could have been elaborated on which would make for better writing.

I had trouble getting into the characters. I found myself wanting to know more about Dana, this seemingly hard working woman who was, in my mind, relegated to a passive character at best.
The character, Phil was an interesting character who seemed to have stories of living in the lighthouse but his stories were lost to a plot development that focused on something else.

Overall, I feel the author was aiming at the inspirational side for this book. For that, he did seem to achieve. I hope in the future to read another book by this author and can see his potential but for now, I can only give this book 3 stars.

Away We Go Media Mega #Giveaway Celebrating National Book Month #NationalBookMonth

Away We Go Media is proud to represent the authors past and present who put on quality writing for reading audiences world wide. We are celebrating our authors and October's National Book Month with a mega giveaway from all of our authors.

We want to welcome our newest authors:

Michael Alan Peck

"Paul Reid died in the snow at seventeen. The day of his death, he told a lie—and for the rest of his life, he wondered if that was what killed him."

And so begins the battle for the afterlife, known as The Commons. It's been taken over by a corporate raider who uses the energy of its souls to maintain his brutal control. The result is an imaginary landscape of a broken America—stuck in time and overrun by the heroes, monsters, dreams, and nightmares of the imprisoned dead.

Three people board a bus to nowhere: a New York street kid, an Iraq War veteran, and her five-year-old special-needs son. After a horrific accident, they are the last, best hope for The Commons to free itself. Along for the ride are a shotgun-toting goth girl, a six-foot-six mummy, a mute Shaolin monk with anger-management issues, and the only guide left to lead them.

Three Journeys: separate but joined. One mission: to save forever.

But first they have to save themselves.

A secret lies buried beneath the haunting statuary in Old Willow Cemetery. In Concord, Massachusetts, the surrounding woods are alive with the spirits of transcendentalists Emerson, Thoreau, and Alcott. Elias Hatch, the cemetery keeper, is the last of modern-day transcendentalists. Does he know the secret power buried in Old Willow Cemetery? Would he reveal it?

Next door to this cemetery is a lovely gabled house. When the Brooke family moves in, the secret of Old Willow strikes.

On a cold afternoon in March, five-year-old Henry Brooke does not arrive home from the school bus stop. Antonia Brooke is frantic her child is missing, or—the unspeakable—stolen. Adam Brooke spends a harrowing night searching the Concord woods, fear gripping him as hours pass with no leads.

Finally, a police dog tracks Henry’s scent inside Old Willow Cemetery. Detective Mike Balducci suspects that Elias Hatch knows the truth about what happened to Henry. Balducci knows Hatch’s metaphysical beliefs. What Balducci discovers buried in the cemetery is beyond the grave, beyond apparitions or shadowy drifts rushing through the pine trees.

There are the dazzled faces in the darkened air … and their secret.

The lives of two young black men from the Harlem "hood" of upper Manhattan in New York become inextricably intertwined through a series of seemingly unrelated events.
Follow Noel -- the Dollar Man -- through his early life on the street, a brief respite in a group home following his parents' arrest for abusing his sister, Jenna, culminating in several years of incarceration at the Bridges Juvenile Detention Facility in the Bronx after making a bold, but short-lived escape from the group home together with one of his roommates.

At the same time, become intimately involved in the parallel life of Terrell -- the Hustler -- who spends most of his life in the home of his grandmother, "Mama B," following his own mother's departure after she murders her friend, and who chooses to drop out of high school in order to embark on a life of drug sales, fast money, sex, and violence.

Until he encounters Noel.   This fictionalized novel is based on actual events.

#Review: The Witch's Garden by Louise Lintvelt/Illustrated by Kristin Wiman #FrightFall

Summary:
Past the mill, over the hill, deep in the wood... A witch's house stood.

Join the friendly troll on an exciting adventure as he sets out to outwit the witch and free the magical creatures trapped in her garden.

My review:
I have read and reviewed a few books from this author and was looking forward to reading this book as well. The only problem for me is, I suppose I was expecting more.

This is your typical "ugly witch" where she does evil upon those who come into her area or home. This "witch" does the same but turns magical creatures into a beautiful garden. She then comes upon another who undoes all her work and sets the creatures free. That's the book in a nut shell.

As I said, I was looking for more that I have come to expect from the author. It even seemed rushed at the end. However, her poetry was right on and that was the best part about this book as well as the illustrations that gave breathe to the book.

All in all, still not a bad book and for that, I give it three stars.

Disclosure: I was given this book for my open and honest opinion. The views expressed her are 100% my own and may differ from yours.

#Review: The Last Call by George Wier #FrightFall

Summary:
Bill Travis, an unmarried, unattached investment counselor rapidly approaching his fortieth birthday, conceives that he may not live the most exciting of lives, yet Julie Simmons, his first appointment that Monday, is deeply in trouble. She has taken a North Texas quarter horse racer and liquor baron named Archie Carpin--the last of a dynasty of criminals from the 1920's--for a ride and cleaned him out of a neat two million bucks. And thus begins the adventure of Bill’s life.

Ensues a chase north across Texas to recover the money and shake the pursuit of a couple of rednecks with a penchant for rifles and rigged explosives. Yet, through all this action the compelling tale of yet another mystery—an 80-year old missing person’s case—begins to unravel.

My review:
I picked up this book from Amazon thinking it would be a nice thriller book without all the blood and guts that I simply don't like. Well, it wasn't exactly thriller but certainly mystery as the book says on the cover.

I was a bit drawn in to this mystery girl, Julie. She seemed just like some people whom I have met before. She tells you just enough to intrigue you and keep you going but not enough to keep you out of getting into a mess. I was surprised to find out whom she was connected to at the end.

I kept wondering why the main character, Bill kept going even after she gets him into some hot water including almost getting killed a few times. I suppose like all things it is love. Hmmm?

The book was kind of like Julie and Bill, just enough to intrigue me and keep me going to read it but yet wondering why I am. It seemed slow in some parts but in others I was all in. Yes, it had its mysterious 80 year old case wrapped up with a little gun fight and dynamite!

In truth, I would have liked to see a little bit more "thrill" and maybe even a bit more mystery as that was mild in my mind, but overall, I liked this book. This was the authors first book in a series and I am sure his others will be good too.

He gets 4 stars from me.

Disclosure: I purchased this book on Kindle for my own collections.

#Review: "Montreal" by Debra Schoenberger

Summary:
Street photographer, Debra Schoenberger aka "girl with camera" captures the more unusual side of Montreal in her foot travels around the city. The images portrayed in the book are from 2010 to 2014

My Review:
I was intrigued when I found out this author/photographer had shot photographs for National Geographic. Like her, I grew up with practically a camera in my hand so, I could relate to her and her eye for the different.

Her book showcases photographs she took on the streets of Montreal, Canada. They are a mixture of black and white with just over 60 pages of photographs for one beautiful book. I especially liked her black and white photographs as this is a favorite for me to look at. The observer has to only imagine what the lens did not reveal.

Some of the photographs were of people in everyday situations but many were quirky which added to the likeness of the book as a whole.

Overall, this was a wonderful photo book and great conversational piece for any home.
I give it 4 stars.
