#Review: Groundhog Weather School b Joan Holub/Illustrated by Kristin Sorra #GroundhogDay, #Kidsbooks

Summary:
Ever wonder where Groundhog Day first began? Want to know the reason why we have different weather seasons? Curious about how some plants and animals can help predict the weather? Learn the answers to these questions and many more at Groundhog Weather School!

This clever story—starring a cast of lovable groundhog characters—is a fresh, informative, and fun look at Groundhog Day through the eyes of the animals who are the stars of it each year.

My review:
Predicting the weather is hard work! Just ask any weather caster or in this case the groundhog.

Once a year on Hog TV, Professor Groundhog has to get it right or he gets letters! What is he to do with so many different areas of the country?

Start a school of course!

This book from the very start began to talk about groundhogs, what they look like and how they eat and sleep. It did not stop there though. The book went on to talk about weather and famous people, even other animals and plants all associated with weather predicting.

I was fascinated with every page turn, so I know kids would be too.  This 32 page book is packed full of information. The book is designed  like a newspaper, except when the groundhogs are in school. Then it is designed like a true classroom. Oh, and there is one student who sure does not look like a groundhog.

The writing is top notch, the only way the author can do. Additionally, the illustrations are bold and colorful and begin right on the cover of the book. They are a fresh new look to how many children's books usually are. I love it!

This book is for children 5-8 years old but I think even a bit older child would love it. If you have a child that loves the weather, loves animals, or is just plain curious, this is the book for them.

This is a winner for sure! 5 stars!
