#Review: A Child's Calendar by John Updike/Illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman #CaldecottHonorBook #Kidbooks

My review:
This book is set in poetic form to describe each month.  The words visually describe the months so well that it is almost perfection. The author allows for the reader to step into a month as if standing and looking at a picture postcard.

The illustrations that are coupled with this book are done beautifully which only adds to the already well written book. They are visually stunning with bright colors. The children depicted in each page helps readers to see themselves doing the different activities for each month.

As if this book was not great on its own, the book won the Caldecott Honor for books.  I am certainly glad to have this in my collection. I highly recommend it to introduce children to excellent poetry.

This book is a 5 star winner all around.

Disclosure: I purchased a copy of this book for my own collections. The review is 100% my own and may differ from your own views. ~Naila Moon

Where to find the author:
Note: Sadly the author passed away in 2009.

Sounds like a really great book for a child who loves to read. Thanks for sharing.
